Hope and Healing for America This Thanksgiving as Trump Prepares for the Presidency

Exclusive: Pastor Robert Jeffress on Thanksgiving, Unity, and Faith After the Election

Pastor Robert Jeffress Reflects on Thanksgiving, Unity, and Faith Post-Election

As America gathers for the Thanksgiving holiday, Pastor Robert Jeffress of First Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas, shares insights on unity, gratitude, and the future under President-elect Donald Trump’s administration.

Bridging Divides in a Time of Division

In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, Pastor Robert Jeffress acknowledged the deep divisions that emerged during the recent presidential election. “We experienced a very contentious election,” he remarked, noting that such electoral battles are not new to American history. “But we’ve seen contentious elections many times in our history. Now that the election is over and President Trump has been re-elected, I sense a genuine desire from both sides of the aisle to come together and accomplish something positive for the nation.”

With optimism for the future, Jeffress highlighted Trump’s focus and enthusiasm. “I spoke with him a few days ago,” he recalled. “He is resolutely focused on the agenda he campaigned on. He’s extremely upbeat about the future of the country.”

Addressing Concerns About the New Administration

Amidst lingering concerns from various segments of the population regarding Trump’s administration, Jeffress sought to dispel fears about a potential “oppressive theocracy.” He stated, “People who feared that President Trump would implement some sort of oppressive theocracy will see that those concerns are unfounded. I’ve known the president for a decade, and I believe he’s well-equipped to bridge political divides and work on what’s best for America.”

He expressed hope that all Americans would extend their prayers to Trump and allow him the opportunity to fulfill his campaign promises.

A Deep-rooted Faith: Friendship with the President

When asked about his potential role in advising the new administration on faith matters, Jeffress reflected on his longstanding relationship with Trump. “Back in 2016, during his first campaign, a spiritual advisory committee was formed,” he explained. “Post-election, this group transitioned into an informal network of individuals who provide guidance when requested. I believe this will continue moving forward.” He emphasized the importance of his friendship with Trump, stating, “President Trump and I have been friends for 10 years, and we stay in regular contact through texts and phone calls. I value that friendship and expect it will continue for many years to come.”

A Thanksgiving Message Rooted in Gratitude

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, Jeffress shared a poignant message inspired by the Bible. Citing I Thessalonians 5:18, he stated, “The Apostle Paul reminds us to ‘give thanks in all circumstances.’ Interestingly, Abraham Lincoln issued the first Thanksgiving Proclamation in 1863 during the Civil War—a time when the country was deeply divided. Even in the darkest times, Lincoln encouraged Americans to focus on the blessings they could still be grateful for.”

Despite the economic challenges facing many families today, Jeffress urged a posture of gratitude. “An average family of four earning ,000 a year is wealthier than 89% of the world,” he noted. He encouraged those who may struggle to feel thankful to rather “act” thankful, suggesting that such actions could transform feelings. “There’s a reason this holiday is called ‘Thanksgiving’ and not ‘Thanks-feeling,’” he explained.

He concluded with an assurance that “God is in control of everything,” a reminder that resonates especially with Christian believers. “It’s important to remember that spiritual change doesn’t come through government. It’s not within the government’s role or power to change hearts—only the Gospel of Jesus Christ can do that,” he emphasized.

Pastor Robert Jeffress: A Leader of Faith

Pastor Jeffrey Jeffress has served as the senior pastor of First Baptist Church in Dallas for many years, leading a congregation of approximately 16,000 members. He is not only a prominent religious figure but also a familiar voice in media as a Fox News contributor and the host of the daily radio program, Pathway to Victory, which is broadcast on over 1,400 stations across the nation. His television program reaches audiences in 195 countries, including on Fox Nation, and he is the author of nearly 30 books.

This Thanksgiving, Jeffress’ message serves as a reminder for Americans during a time characterized by challenges and division. “Gratitude helps us find the good and stay centered, no matter the circumstances,” he stated, echoing a timeless call to recognize and appreciate the blessings in life.
