Dawa’s daughter, Mendo Lhamu Sherpa, expressed the mixed emotions of hope and uncertainty when they first heard the news. Relatives were conducting funeral rites when the call came through about his rescue. “When we first heard about it, we could not be sure if that person was indeed our father,” she shared.
