Bondi, who is 59 years old, is a native of Tampa, Florida. She earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the University of Florida before going on to receive her law degree from Stetson Law School. Her legal career began when she was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1991.

For over 18 years, Bondi served as a prosecutor in the Hillsborough County State Attorney’s Office, where she dealt with a multitude of cases ranging from domestic violence to murder. Her extensive experience in the legal field set the groundwork for her rise in Florida politics.

In 2010, she made history by becoming the first female Attorney General of Florida. In addition to her political endeavors, Bondi is a partner at Ballard Partners, a prominent Florida-based lobbying firm founded by Brian Ballard. She splits her time between Florida and Washington, D.C., where she chairs the corporate regulatory practice at the firm. During Trump’s first term alone, the D.C. office of Ballard Partners reportedly earned over million in lobbying fees while representing various corporate clients, as indicated by federal disclosures.

Notably, both Bondi and Trump’s incoming chief of staff, Susie Wiles, are partners at Ballard Partners, indicating a strong connection between the firm and Trump’s administration.

As she steps into the role of Attorney General, Bondi faces significant challenges, particularly in addressing the criticisms surrounding the Department of Justice.
