Matthew Bartlett, an experienced Republican consultant who served during Trump’s first term at the State Department, likened the pace of Trump’s appointments to “operation warp speed.” He pointed out that Trump already has a clear vision and specific individuals in mind for key roles.

Yet, Bartlett also noted that the rapid-fire naming of cabinet heads could yield mixed outcomes, suggesting a possibility that some selected names may be heavily influenced by people close to Trump.

“This looks like a mix of professionals and possibles,” Bartlett added, indicating a blend of seasoned officials alongside potential nominees.

Despite the apparent advantages of a quick-paced staffing process, analysts caution that there may be drawbacks, particularly regarding Senate confirmation. With some of Trump’s more controversial picks, the swift approach could create challenges during verification hearings.

“The American people have an appetite, maybe even a demand, for a disruptor, but I’m not sure that they voted to see a destroyer as a cabinet secretary,” Bartlett remarked, foreseeing potential turbulence during the confirmation process for certain nominees. He expressed concern that some of Trump’s selections “are going to go down” under scrutiny.
