Chaos Erupts at Turning Point USA’s Women’s Leadership Summit

A spokeswoman for Students for Life faced a hostile reception from a group of radical Antifa protesters who celebrated the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk during the recent Women’s Leadership Summit in San Antonio, Texas.

Confrontation Outside the Convention Center

Lydia Taylor Davis was approaching the San Antonio convention center, seeking to engage with attendees and open a dialogue, when she encountered the chaotic atmosphere generated by the protesters. “I went over with my microphone to start asking questions, to have peaceful dialogue, but it turns out that the left is incapable of peaceful dialogue, and it quickly resulted in screaming where they called me a Nazi and a fascist,” Davis recounted in an interview with Fox News Digital.

Protesters’ Erratic Behavior

Davis documented the incident, revealing disturbing behavior from the group. They directed intentional insults at her, including one protester who repeatedly coughed in her direction and others who blasted sirens near her face and threw water at her.

Amidst a barrage of graphic and sexual insults, the protesters chanted derogatory slogans. “Oink, oink, piggy piggy, we don’t want you in our city,” they chanted, adding to the tension of the situation.

Mocking Tragedy

What shocked Davis the most was the protesters’ open mockery of Kirk’s assassination, which occurred on September 10 when he was reportedly shot while speaking at a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University. “People mocked the death of Charlie Kirk. One Antifa protester dressed up and impersonated him, mimicking his death,” she said.

The Irony of Accusations

Davis expressed her dismay at how the protesters labeled her a fascist while they celebrated someone who was assassinated for expressing his views. “It is ironic that they were calling me a fascist while celebrating someone who was assassinated for having free speech, for sharing his opinions. That is fascism,” she remarked.

Endorsement of Violence

The hostility escalated when one group member, concealed beneath a mask resembling Kirk, stated, “I support assassinating fascists.” When pressed about the definition of a fascist, the masked individual dismissed the question, indicating the lack of serious discourse. Another protester screamed, “F— Charlie Kirk,” inches from Davis’s face, further intensifying the chaotic atmosphere.

A Personal Loss

Davis described how difficult it was to confront the crowd, especially as someone who had a collaborative working relationship with Kirk. “They were trying to shut down the event, and it was very disturbing for me as someone who loved Charlie Kirk, a great partner for us in the pro-life movement,” she explained. “It was devastating, but again, just a reminder of the culture of death that we are facing.”

Security Precautions

Given the unpredictable nature of the protests, Davis acknowledged the risks associated with her advocacy work. She shared that she often attends events with security personnel and even wears a bulletproof vest for added safety.

Mobilizing for Change

Reflecting on the incident, Davis called for increased involvement in the pro-life movement, urging attendees at events like Turning Point to become active. “The violence of the left shows how urgent this is. We are truly dealing with a culture of death, and there is a place for everyone in the pro-life movement,” she asserted. “We need everyone involved urgently.”

Changing Hearts and Minds

Davis believes that the work being done by Students for Life is having a significant impact on changing public perceptions. “People often convert to pro-life after witnessing the violence of the pro-abortion movement and realizing it doesn’t represent the love and tolerance they claim to advocate,” she said.

A Call for Peaceful Dialogue

Despite the recent turmoil, Davis remains optimistic about the pro-life movement’s ability to foster constructive dialogue. “We’re on the side of truth and peace, and we can have disagreements without resorting to violent tactics. This shows that we are the winning side,” she concluded, urging continued advocacy for life and freedom of expression.
