On Tuesday, Donald Trump’s transition team formally announced the execution of a memorandum of understanding with President Joe Biden’s White House. This significant agreement marks the official commencement of the transition process as Trump prepares to take office.

“After completing the selection process of his incoming Cabinet, President-elect Trump is entering the next phase of his administration’s transition,” stated Trump’s chief of staff, Susie Wiles, in a press release. This new phase is characterized by a strategic collaboration designed to facilitate an efficient handover of power.

Ensuring a Smooth Transition

The memorandum allows for critical preparations to begin, including the deployment of transition teams—referred to as “landing teams”—to engage with departments and agencies across the federal government. Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts even sent a letter to the GSA expressing her dissatisfaction with the delay, pressing for a more expeditious transition.
