Footage from the attack vividly captured the harrowing moments when Omer Neutra and three other soldiers—Shaked Dahan, Oz Daniel, and Nimrod Cohen—were forcibly taken from their tank by Hamas militants. Following the attack, the IDF confirmed that Dahan and Daniel had been killed, and it was only this week that the painful news of Neutra’s fate also came to light. The status of Nimrod Cohen remains uncertain.

A memorial service took place at a Long Island synagogue on Tuesday, the same venue where Omer celebrated his bar mitzvah years ago. Surrounded by approximately 1,500 mourners, Ronen Neutra described the news of their son’s death as leaving the family “breathless and empty.”

The Ongoing Hostage Crisis
